Tips for Proper Sod Care

Caring for your sod can be really easy.  There are a few things you need to know and how to do them, in order to care for your sod properly. 1. Applying the sod

The first thing you need to know is that before applying the sod, you need to water the soil/ground. After that, apply the sod. Now, this is very simple, but, that’s not all. We are only at the beginning. Right after that, you need to fertilize the sod. In case you didn’t know, you have to use organic fertilizer. This is the most important step of all. Using non-organic fertilizer may dry the sod, and you have used your money for nothing.

2. Watering

Right after you finish with fertilizing, you will need to water the sod at least two times a day for the first couple of days. This is very important for the grass. After a week/week and a half, you start watering your sod at least once a day, no exceptions. In order to keep the sod in mint condition, you need to water it every day, no matter what. This will feed the root with all necessary minerals that are crucial for  health, especially during summer. In summer, the temperatures are very high, and water is the most important ingredient to keep your lawn fresh and beautiful.

3. Mowing

Mowing the sod is another thing you will have to do every now and then. Don’t let the grass grow  more than two inches from the ground. This is very important because the longer the grass is growing, the faster it can dry, and you don’t need that.
